Horror movie fans and those who love survival games will like Five Nights at Freddy's 2, which is a game that combines elements of both types of play.
Five Nights at Freddy's started as a simple point and click game. You play as Mike, a security guard working at a pizza place with robotic bears serving as entertainment for guests. When the game starts, you receive a phone call from someone who informs you that those bears actually come to life and will attack if they spot you. The game became so popular that the developer made more than $10,000 a day and saw his characters become fan favorites. If you played and beat the original game, now is a good time to download Five Nights at Freddy's 2, which features elements of the first game and some brand new features too.
You once again play as a security guard working at the same pizza place, but the game introduces a brand new setting and tells you that the owners renovated the restaurant. Freddy, the main bear from the first game, is on the move, but he now has some new friends ready to help him and his old friends defeat the security guard. Protecting yourself from those characters is the main goal in the game.
As the head security guard, you start the game in your own office. You must watch the television screens and monitor the location of all those bears to survive the night. Five Nights at Freddy's 2 actually requires that you spend seven nights on the job, but the demo version of the game only lets you play one. If the bears reach your office, they will devour you and bring an end to the game.
The game provides you with a flashlight to keep an eye on their movements and a bear mask that protects you from those characters. Each level requires that you keep an eye on up to 11 characters during each shift. A new feature in the game is a customized option that lets you take and customize one of the classic bear characters.
Though Five Nights at Freddy's 2 will appeal to fans of the first game, it doesn't bring a lot of new content to the table. Fans of the original may find the game repetitive and even a little boring. You will spend most of your time simply monitoring the TV screens and staring at the same characters for hours. Despite bringing in some 3D graphics, the game has a slightly bland look that cannot compete with imitators.
Even with its flaws, Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is a good addition to the franchise. The music and sound effects will leave you on the edge of your seat and wondering what is behind the next corner. You'll also love the unexpected jump scenes that come out of nowhere. If you love survival games and were a fan of the original, you'll also love Five Nights at Freddy's 2.
